About the programme
This course is perfect for anyone who needs to improve their language skills in General English before progressing on to one of our Business English courses. This course is open to all levels (Minimum entry level: Beginner level) and will introduce you to Business English vocabulary and situations. We recommend the General English course to executives, professionals and students who wish to feel confident when using the English language in any situation including corporate contexts. The small class size means that the teacher can support individuals and focus on personal needs; therefore you will improve extremely quickly.
Programme objectives:
- Increase confidence and oral fluency
- Use language correctly and express ideas and opinions clearly
- Increase grammar comprehension
- Strategies for understanding the main points of oral English
- Strategies for asking for explanations of vague information
- Familiarise yourself with working in a multicultural group
- Target your own needs and requirements in order for you to progress quickly
Programme content:
The General English course focuses on improving confidence oral, listening and comprehension when in various situations including corporate contexts. Our range of practical activities means that all students can participate in class and improve their English language.
- Topical lexis and language
- Work grammatical structures
- Pronunciation and listening exercises
- Presentation and introduction exercises
- Describing past and present events
- Diary – make plans
- Informal English language
- Telephone skills
- Meetings and debates
On top of that, as a student at Active English Academy you will also have the chance to join other students on company visits and many other activities, giving you the chance to practise your skills and further your understanding of British business culture (see our Business and Social Programme)
At the end of each course, participants will be assessed and advised whether they require another Foundation Level Course to enable them to enter Course B.
