About Manchester

Manchester is one of the largest cities in England and is easily accessible by air. It is home to one of the UK's largest airports (Manchester International Airport) with other low-cost airports close by in Liverpool, Leeds and Blackpool. Train, bus and taxi services are readily available from all of these airports direct to Manchester city centre.


Manchester has one of the best motorway networks in England and has three railway stations with fast and frequent trains to many cities around Great Britain. Average journey time from Manchester to London by train is just two hours and ten minutes. 

Manchester's excellent public transport network makes travelling around Manchester city centre and its suburbs very easy. You can choose to travel by Metro (tram) or bus.



Manchester played a big part in the industrial revolution and still contributes strongly to the British economy. It is one of the most lively and modern cities in Great Britain boasting impressive galleries, renowned theatres, fantastic shopping centres, clubs, museums and music, fine dining restaurants and cosmopolitan cafés. Mancunian people are known throughout the country for their conviviality and hospitality and will provide you with many opportunities to continue practising your English outside of the classroom!

Beautiful English coutryside such as the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the historical cities of York and Chester are all easily accessible from Manchester and offer a picturesque view of the traditional British way of life.
