Whilst a great number of students come to learn English in England, many also want to work as well as study in the UK. Active English Academy gives its EU students the opportunity to attend quality, British Council Accredited General and Business English courses in Manchester as well as skilled and unskilled PAID work placements.

Active English Academy’s “English & Paid Work Placement” is available to EU passport holders only. The minimum level of English for this programme must be lower intermediate (unskilled) or intermediate (skilled) when enrolling on this programme.

If you wish to apply for Active English Academy’s “English & Paid Work Placement” Programme, you must first complete an application form, send a full CV (Resume) and covering letter. One of Active English Academy’s Placement Coordinators will then contact you for a telephone interview and you will be required to send us a written test by email. If your language level does not meet the minimum required for the work placement, the Placement Coordinator will advise on the appropriate English language programme. Contact us for more information

Active English Academy is closed on the following public holidays:
In 2011: 29/08 and from 24/12/2011 to 08/01/2012 included.
In 2012: 06/04, 09/04, 07/05, 04/06, 05/06, 27/08 and from 22/12/2012 to 06/01/2013 included. There will be no classes on these days.

Programme Content

English & Paid Work Placement Programme – What is included in the price? 

1. General & Business English Course (20 hours per week) for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to the Work Placement starting.

2. Paid Work Placement for 24 weeks+. There are 2 types of Paid Work Placements:

• Skilled: Hospitality, IT, customer support, administration, manufacturing & engineering, etc.
• Unskilled: Hospitality, housekeeping, domestic help, factory work, etc.

Also included in the price

• Workshops to help you write/rewrite your CV, interview techniques etc.
• A list of paid work placement opportunities suitable for the student.
• Assistance to open a bank account, register with a doctor, etc.
• Support throughout the placement.
  
  

What about the work placement?

Students will be given all the job details and will be requested to attend an interview with their potential employer. In case the student is not successful, we will offer a maximum of 5 interviews for placements. If the employer offers you the placement you requested, you will have to accept it.  In case the student is not happy with the work placement, a maximum of 2 alternative placements will be offered.
