Enjoy Manchester
Manchester is a dramatic mix of old and new, combining its strong industrial heritage with the 21st century to create a cosmopolitan, vibrant city.
The people of Manchester are well known for their easy-going, friendly nature and you are sure to make new friends on a visit to one of Manchester's many traditional English pubs, bars or cafés. Restaurants in Manchester are of an excellent standard and offer all kinds of cuisine from the Mediterranean to the Far East and not forgetting traditional British classics such as fish and chips.

If it is culture you want then you will be spoilt for choice with Manchester's many theatres, galleries, museums and cinemas. The city also has a strong musical heritage and an abundance of live music venues to choose from. Shopping in Manchester is world class, you will find everything you want in the vibrant shopping centre, from stylish department stores to quirky, typically British boutiques.
And for sports fans let us not forget our famous football teams, Manchester City who play at the City of Manchester stadium, which was originally built to host the Commonwealth Games 2002 and Manchester United who are based at the historic Old Trafford football ground. Both stadiums offer fantastic tours, definitely worth a visit!
Active English Academy will help you to find your bearings and settle in quickly. We will also be happy to help you organise outings and excursions, give advice on seasonal events, help you to book visits to the theatre, cinema or live events and more.
